The aloe vera fibers we use for our production are a by-product of the cosmetics industry. After the sap of the plant has been extracted, we take the leftover dried leaves and use the "waste" to create something new. This results in great environmental savings in terms of resource consumption, land use and energy compared to producing or harvesting a new material. (The leaves are ground into a very fine powder and mixed with approximately 30% post-consumer polyurethane. To obtain a stable leather material, this mixed material is applied to a tear-resistant roll of vegetable fabric. The rolls are heated to produce a weather-resistant and durable innovative fabric with a rich leather texture.
FYI: However, a certain amount of polyurethane is required to make the AirPodsCase durable and resistant. Our goal is to reduce the amount of PU each year. Good news: Our PU is the most sustainable on the market! It is recycled, Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certified and produced in a water-based process, which is more environmentally friendly and uses less chemicals!
